September 2011 Lake Placid Art League Newsletter

Trip Update

Our first trip to the Japanese Morikami Museum is showing good interest. As of today we have eighteen members that have signed up to go. If we get a total of thirty to thirty-three we can rent a small bus from Princess Tours for $600.00, or approximately $20.00 each. Then we can leave the driving to them. If not by bus, we need more cars and drivers for transportation. The admission is $12.00 per person plus luncheon at the café. (The food is excellent.) This should make it an inexpensive and educational experience. Sign up at our next meeting—September 21—or call Pat Keesling at 699-2058.

Money Raiser Update

Our microfiber cloth fund raiser has been progressing. At the moment, we have sold 163 clothes out of the two hundred purchased for sale to benefit our general fund. Now we have the toughest ones to sell—the 37 remaining. Please consider calling Marlene at 699-2665 to buy a few to sell or to keep for yourself or for favors for family or friends. This fund raiser is a “painless” way to raise money for our Art League as the items are not perishable and are exceptional for use. They can be used for lovebug removal at this time, for windows, glass top tables, etc. Join in and help.

Other fund raiser ideas are the following:
• Casino Trips—we rent the bus
• Pulled Pork Dinners or Chicken Dinners
• Bingo Nites—invest in cards
• Indoor “Yard Sale”

These are all profit-making suggestions!
We need your opinions and involvement..
